Born on February 15, 1950, in Austin, Texas, to Mary Agnes and Fred Borth, Marilyn carried a deep sense of compassion and creativity with her wherever she went. A lifelong learner, she began her studies at the University of Texas and later earned her degree from the University of Evansville. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Theology and Pastoral Studies from Loyola, a testament to her enduring faith and love for others.
On May 30, 1970, Marilyn married the love of her life, Phillip J. Yunker. Together, they built a beautiful life over 54 years of marriage, rooted in faith, family, and unwavering support for one another.
Known affectionately as “Mimi,” Marilyn’s greatest joy came from loving and caring for her family. She was the heart of every home she entered — a creative spirit who poured love into every homemade meal, every hand-sewn gift, and every encouraging word. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, the biggest cheerleader for her children and grandchildren, and a steadfast source of wisdom, warmth, and kindness.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Shannon Campbell and husband Jeffery, Casey Yunker and wife Janet, and Alice Edwards and husband Ryan. Her legacy lives on in her cherished grandchildren: Mary, Thomas, Addison, Carson, Grant, and Juliana. She is also survived by her brother Rick Borth and his wife Kathy, and her sister-in-law Bonnie Borth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Agnes and Fred Borth, and her brother, Kerry William Borth.
