Marjorie Ruth (Harmon) Thweatt passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 85. She recently returned to Oklahoma from Sun City West, AZ, where she spent 16 years enjoying retirement – and even learned to play golf.
For 33 years Marjorie lived in Oklahoma City raising a family, working as a secretary to her husband Lynn, and participating as an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was the State President of the Oklahoma State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in 1988 and took great pleasure in visiting chapters throughout the state and assisting in the organization of new chapters. As a graduate of Cottey College she was always looking for opportunities to encourage young women to consider attending Cottey.
She was a loving, nurturing, and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Marjorie was loved dearly by her family and many friends, all of whom will miss her greatly. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 61 years and the love of her life, Lynn R. Thweatt. Marjorie is survived by her son Jeffery Thweatt, daughter Tracy McGee, granddaughter Audrey Wollmershauser, and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 3:00pm at the Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
