Mark left this earthly world to be with his Lord May 19, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born August 2, 1954, to Leslie Eugene and Norma Lee (Eklund) Ames in Kansas City Missouri.
Mark spent his formative years in Del City Oklahoma. He graduated from Del City High School in 1972.
Mark proudly served his country as a Navy Corpsman. He was stationed on the USS Nimitz while she was still being built. He was on board for commissioning and for her maiden voyage. This granted Mark the privilege of being a plank owner. Mark was a member of one of the only all Oklahoma Companies to attend boot camp in San Diego.
After the Navy and a time in the Naval reserves, Mark became an EMT then a Paramedic. During this time, he also worked in the computer industry. He also worked as a tech in the emergency room. Continuing his love for the medical field he received a degree in nursing from Rose State College. During his nursing career Mark spent time in the cardiac ICU. He ended his career working as a dialysis nurse, which ironically came in hand later in life with the birth of his son Matthew, who was born with kidney disease.
During Mark’s spare time he built and worked on computers. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and tinkering outside. He could do anything he set his mind to.
Mark married the love of his life Naomi November 7, 1987. They spent 38 loving years together. They built their house in which they lived in for 35 years together. They enjoyed cooking and gardening together. They have one son, Matthew. In high school Matthew was in band and AFJROTC. Mark spent many hours volunteering in both organizations. Mark was extremely proud of Matthew and all his accomplishments in both organizations.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents and his older sister Tonya. He is survived by his wife Naomi and son Matthew, and many loving friends that he considered family. As well as his fur babies, Rosie and Wally.
Please join us in a celebration of his life November 7, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church of Midwest City.
