Mary Jane was born on October 24, 1931, at the Bristow Hospital in Bristow, Oklahoma, to Roy and Alberta Kelly. She was welcomed home from the hospital by her brother, Roy O. Kelly, Jr., who was three and a half years old at the time.
She attended Bristow schools from first grade through high school, graduating in 1949 as Co-Valedictorian of her senior class. Mary Jane continued her education with one year at William Woods College and three years at the University of Oklahoma, where she majored in Medical Technology.
On December 28, 1952, Mary Jane married the love of her life, Don Anderson. The couple briefly lived in Seminole, Oklahoma, for one year before Don’s 2-year service in the United States Air Force took them to Washington State.
Mary Jane worked until the birth of their daughter, Kathy, after which she devoted herself to her family and community. She and Don later purchased a home in The Village where they welcomed sons Steve and Mike. The family joined Covenant Presbyterian Church in 1956, where she and Don remain longtime members.
She was a devoted and long-time member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), specifically Chapter CT, and valued the friendships and service opportunities it provided throughout her life.
Mary Jane loved to travel and see new places. She and Don spent many years on tours covering foliage in New England to jet boat rides on the Snake River. Her strong devotion to family was sustained as the look and feel of family gatherings changed; her children married with grandchildren and great-grandchildren added to the mix. She gave loving attention and an always-ready hug to the growing crew as often as she had the chance.
In 2019, Mary Jane and Don moved to Epworth Villa, where she continued to be surrounded by care and community from friends, family, and staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alberta Kelly, and her brother, Roy O. Kelly, Jr.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Don Anderson; her daughter, Kathy Robertson of Schertz, Texas; her sons, Steve Anderson (Kyle) of Lexington, South Carolina; and Mike Anderson (Sara) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
With much love to all my family.
