MeLissa Kay (Johnson) Brown, 86, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on May 22, 2024. She was born Dec. 16, 1937, near Mill Creek, Oklahoma, the eldest daughter of Ellery Phillip and Eula Mona (Blair) Johnson.
She graduated from Mill Creek High School and received a degree in bookkeeping from Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. In 1958, she married Roy Noel Brown, her eldest son Ellery Noel being born later that year in Sulphur, Oklahoma. The couple then moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the Air Force. In 1962, their youngest son, Kevin Monroe, was born.
Following the military, MeLissa Kay and Roy returned to Oklahoma where they ran the Black Angus Steakhouse and Club. Later they started the company Advanced Chemical Technologies. The young couple raised their children in Edmond, Oklahoma. Once their boys were grown, MeLissa Kay and Roy moved to West Yellowstone, Montana, where MeLissa Kay enjoyed a career in real estate.
She had a passion for helping her husband run his businesses while also caring for her beloved family. As she was always reminding them – "I love you more."
She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her beloved husband, and grandson, Evan Noel Brown. She leaves behind her son Ellery and his wife Vickie of Arcadia, Oklahoma; Son Kevin of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jaclyn, Jenn, Kaylee, Keil and Vallery, and great grandsons Bruce and Ennis, as well as her sister Jan Foreman and husband Keith; Sister Ella McDonald; Sister Jeanette Ross and husband Dean, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral and interment will be Thursday June 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 N Kelley Ave., in Oklahoma City.
