

Merrill was a veteran of the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was a paratrooper, Green Beret, and member of Special Forces.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he went to work for a fish cannery in Alaska. He was the Cook Deck Hand or, as he preferred to be called, the Chef. Later he owned and operated a Carpet Cleaning Company. He and his wife, Sheilah, moved to Oklahoma in 1980 and Merrill went to work for Tinker Air Force Base. After a medical retirement from Tinker, he owned and operated SGT Window Cleaning, from 1993 to 2005.
Merrill was a Blue Lodge Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. As a Shriner, he was a clown named “Go-Go”. He also helped burned and crippled children; including a trip to Mexico City, sponsoring nine needy children.
Merrill was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Theodora and Marsha; and brother, Ronald. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheilah; son, Mickey Taylor & wife April; grandsons, Ethan and Jacob; half-brothers: Gary, Richard, and Sherwood Taylor; and many other family members and friends.
