Norma Jean Crawford

Norma Jean (Smith) Crawford, age 90 of Lawton, Oklahoma passed peacefully in her sleep at home on October 20, 2021 after a long battle with heart disease. Norma Jean was born on April 12, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Creed Daniel Smith and Ruth (Vaughn) Smith. She was graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1949 and University of Oklahoma Nursing School in 1952. She worked in several different hospitals and clinics in Oklahoma and Texas as a registered nurse.

Norma Jean met Billy Bob (B.B.) Crawford , on a blind date on Valentines Day in 1958. They were married in December of that same year, and had four diamonds, as she often said; Mark, David, Jan, and Karen. They raised their children in Duncan, Oklahoma and later moved to Lawton, Oklahoma.

Norma was an avid seamstress and enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, knitting and other types of stitchery. Even more dear to her heart, though, was serving the Lord. She made her choice to serve Him in 1973 and remained faithful to her very last day. She strived to be obedient to the Lord and always tried do what is right in His eyes.

Norma is survived by her husband, B.B., sons Mark Crawford and wife, Robin Crawford, Dr. David Crawford, daughters Jan Miller and husband, Robin Miller, Karen Miller and husband Randy Miller, grandchildren Meredith and husband, Tyler Hake, Dr. Luke and wife, Crystal Crawford, John Crawford, Rachel and husband, Patrick Lane, Ryan and wife, Valerie Miller, Kathryn Miller, Stuart and wife, Chelsea Miller, Eric Miller, Ben Crawford and Isaac Miller and beautiful great granddaughter Willa Hake. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Ghahremani and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Norma Jean will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A graveside service will occur Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Duncan Municipal Cemetery, 1910 Cypress Ave, Duncan, OK 73533.
