Norma Ruth Murdoch, 87, of Oklahoma City, Ok, passed away on January 17, 2022. Norma was born June 29, 1934 in Waltreak, Arkansas. Her father was a Methodist minister and moved his family frequently. She came from humble begins and learned to work hard to accomplish her goals but always found the joy and happiness in her life. While growing up she worked picking cotton and babysitting to help the family.
Norma headed off to college with five dollars in her pocket that her older brother, Carl James, who was stationed in Korea sent her to start her journey. She worked many jobs to pay for education including working in the school cafeteria, dorm telephone operator and a “soda jerk”. After several interruptions including getting married and having four children she graduated from Oklahoma State University Oklahoma City with her Associate Degree in Science.
Norma worked as a Registered Nurse at Integris Baptist Medical Center beginning in 1972 as a medical surgical nurse and obtained her National Certification and then she transferred to Outpatient Gastrointestinal department where she also got her National certification. After 24 years of compassionate loving care she retired.
Norma found the most joy in her family. Each and every one of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren were her “loves”. Each one of them enjoyed her kind and loving attention as if we were the only one. She would listen quietly as you poured out your heart as she held your hand, stroked your hair patted your back and whispered understanding in your ear.
Norma is survived by daughter Linda Evans & husband Robert of City AZ, son Dan Murdoch of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Margaret Rawlings & husband Gary of Yukon, OK, and son Daniel Murdoch & wife Ellen of Bethel, OK. She is also survived by ten grandchildren Cheryl, Norma, Christopher, Hanna, Haley, Megan, Emily, Abigail, LaKrisha, and Shanda, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great-granddaughters.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents Carl Hill & Norma Gertrude Shelton, brothers William Paul, David, Herbert, John, Carl James, and Charles, sisters Mary and Martha and great grandson Nickolas.
