On an early spring morning, March 31, 1942, a little girl named Patty was born on a wheat and farm operation outside Guymon, Oklahoma to Forrest and Leila Pickard. Patty had a wonderful childhood growing up on the farm. She learned to drive tractors, milk cows, and care for the family live stock and crops. In her high school years, Pat excelled in school and worked at the Guymon switchboard. At harvest time the combines would arrive at the Pickard farm and a young boy named Robert “Bobby” Boston would arrive on a crew to cut wheat. This hard-working boy captured Patty’s heart. Robert Russell Boston and Patricia Ann Pickard were married on June 17, 1960 in Guymon at the Guymon Four-Square Church. Not long after their first son Bobby was born in March 1961 and Jerry followed in April 1963.
In 1964, Bob’s oilfield position with McCullogh Tool Company would offer him a job advancement in Oklahoma City. Bob and Patty made a life and raised their family in Oklahoma City, McCloud, and Yukon. Patty’s dream was to be a homemaker where she was known for her delicious cooking skills and keeping a very neat and clean house. Patty’s interests included collecting, buying, and selling antiques. She and Bob also enjoyed buying and selling homes, and they owned and operated a health food store which Patty ran and managed. Patty took a deep interest in her own health and learned a lot about the health food industry. She then went on to help and educate other people on how to live a healthy lifestyle through whole foods, grains, and supplements.
Partially retiring in 1985, after selling her last antique, final investment property, and their health food store, Patty and Bob bought an RV and took off on the open road to explore America. Some of the places they enjoyed were Red River, New Mexico, South Fork, Colorado, Branson, Missouri, and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They also spent over 20 winters in the South Texas retirement community known as “The Valley” in Harlingen, Texas along with her sisters and brothers-in-law.
Patty gave her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age of 9 at the Four- Square Church in Guymon, Oklahoma. Patty’s walk in faith and love for Jesus is what she was most known for. She was always reading her bible and telling others about the good news. Patty’s main goal was to keep her family in church, and she made sure they all knew the importance of living a Christ centered life.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Russell Boston, son, Bobby Oakie Boston, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Clarence Zabel, Dorothy and Paul Ritchie, Lois and Phil Demetro, and infant sister, Alice.
Patty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mandy Boston, and her two granddaughters, Avery and Summer of Edmond, Oklahoma.
