She passed away on April 5, 2024 in Edmond, OK at the age of 90.
Patsy graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1951. Following this she attended Oklahoma city University in 1955, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Degree. She then went to Central State College to take the necessary education hours to be a certified High School Chorus Teacher. Once this was completed she then returned to Central where she would earn a Master's of Education in counseling in 1970, as well as a second Master's Degree.
Most of Patsy’s teaching career was spent in the Putnam City School System, with the last four years spent as a half-day music teacher and half-day counselor at Living World Academy. During her schooling Patsy would meet Jim Corrigan at OCU, and the two were married in November of 1955 following their graduations.
Perhaps it was because of her early experiences as an only child living on a farm, her only playmates being animals, that she became interested in animal rescue. Patsy would volunteer with animal rescue groups locally, and many of her own Chihuahuas were rescue dogs. Patsy got her first Chihuahua in 1962. She was active in obedience training, and would train and show dogs in obedience competitions.
A visitation for Patsy will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 1:30 PM at First Christian Church of Edmond, 201 E. 2nd Street, Edmond, Oklahoma 73034, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
