

After graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served in the Pacific Theater in World War II. When he returned home he attended Oklahoma State University and earned a degree in Geology in 1950. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for many years until establishing Beasley Oil Company in 1964 where he served as Chief Executive Officer. He was a professional member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. One of the highlights of his career was his involvement in the discovery of the Aledo oil and gas field in 1965. The Walker #1 well was one of the most prolific gas wells in Oklahoma history. Dick enjoyed playing golf at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club, and spending time handicapping horse races at Remington Park. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rachel, his sister Jane Cherry of Dallas, Texas, his children Dr. Lee and Sherry Beasley, Carol and Bob Scully and Daysha Beasley, all of Oklahoma City. He loved spending time with and spoiling his six wonderful grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
