Jack was a member of the NW 21st Church of Christ in Oklahoma City.
Jack enjoyed OU football and NASCAR. He was good at answering game show questions on TV and mastered an incredible amount of song lyrics by listening to the radio while driving an 18-wheeler. His fondest childhood memories centered around family in Tennessee.
When Jack’s illness was diagnosed, it was already in an advanced stage, and he accepted it graciously. Immediately his strength of character and faith in God shined through as he planned for his remaining days. He would say it is important to be prepared to die at any time, but he said he was fortunate to know his passing would be soon. He used his remaining days to contact people who meant much to him through all stages of life. These calls to family and friends were often lengthy conversations on varying topics interspersed with laughter, tears, reminiscing, and expressions of love and appreciation. The positive, loving exchanges lifted his heart and brought him peace.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; children Tina Chappell, Leigh Anna Mason, Jacob Gibson and wife Kim, Jason Baker and wife Michelle; grandchildren Dylan Colvin, Haleigh Savage and husband Kinnyon, Hayden Hames, Jessica Gibson, Cameron Baker and Carson Baker; siblings Phillip Gibson, Steve Gibson and wife Kathi, Rheanell Farrill and husband Craig.
