Ruby Nell Jensen was born to L.J. Bearden and Ethel Bearden in Delhi, Louisiana on April 25th, 1933. Ruby was blessed with a loving family, including sisters Gladys and Essie, and brothers John, Lewis, James, Willie, Earnest, Isaac, and Melvin. Ruby met the love of her life, Walter Robert “Bob” Jensen, and they married in May of 1956 and had a long and love-filled marriage.
Ruby and Bob lived all over the world together while Bob was in the Air Force and raised two beautiful daughters, Judy and Nancy, who were the light of their lives. Ruby was a dedicated wife and mother who worked many jobs and played many roles during her life, but those who knew her best would describe her as a master seamstress and a genius quilt maker who crafted the most intricate, beautiful quilts. Ruby was so creative and loved to sew, quilt, draw, paint, and cook for her family and friends, regularly making delicious breads and sweets for family gatherings. Ruby loved animals and had many beloved dogs over the course of her life and above all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Ruby had a great fashion sense and could always be seen in a matching outfit, often a handmade set with matching jewelry too. Those who knew Ruby best would describe her as sweet, playful, funny, with a little bit of a mischievous streak.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, LJ and Ethel, her siblings John, Lewis, James, Willie, Earnest, Isaac, Gladys, and Essie, and her beloved husband, Bob. She is survived by her brother Melvin Bearden and his wife Muarl, daughter Judy Watson and her husband David, daughter Nancy Chance and her husband Jeff, and her two grandchildren, Bobby Chance and Kaycee Chance, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
