Born to Glen Dale and Marcella Ann Carpenter, Rusty was known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether he was casting a line while fishing, searching for hidden treasures at antique shops, or discovering new restaurants with family and friends.
Rusty dedicated many years of service to the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority as a toll operator. He genuinely enjoyed helping the traveling public and was especially fond of visiting with the truck drivers who passed through his lane. His warm smile, friendly conversations, and caring nature left a lasting impression on countless people.
He was a devoted member of the National Shrine of the Infant of Prague Catholic Church for many years, where he found strength in his faith and enjoyed being part of the parish community. His faith remained an important part of his life, and he cherished the friendships and spiritual support he found through the church.
A talented woodworker, Rusty took great pride in creating beautiful indoor and outdoor tables. His craftsmanship reflected his patience, creativity, and attention to detail, and the pieces he built will continue to serve as cherished reminders of his talent and love.
Above all, Rusty will be remembered for his compassionate heart, easygoing personality, and the love he shared with those around him. He was preceded in death by his father, Glen. He leaves behind his mother, Marcella, brother, Randy Carpenter & wife Michele, brother Gary Carpenter, nieces, nephews and many family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories they made with him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, at the funeral home, Resthaven Funeral Home (44909 State Hwy 3, Shawnee, OK 74801). A Rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. that evening also at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church (304 Jim Thorpe Blvd, Prague, OK 74864).
Rusty's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
