Ruth Knox Ricks, age 91, resident of Senior Star at the Arbors, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 at Clarehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ruth was born June 25th, 1927 in Dallas, Texas to Carl and Anna Claire Knox.
Ruth was a graduate of Texas Christian University in 1948 where she was a drum major/twirler majoring in Religious Education, but she took pride in her career as “Engineering Manager” because her husband George and three sons - George, Charles, and David - were all engineers. She was an avid tennis player and golfer and supporter of all her son’s athletic activities. She loved studying and learning God’s word and holding onto His promises, and she dearly loved spending time with all her family and friends.
Ruth married George Vernon Ricks on September 25th, 1953 at East Dallas Christian Church, and they lived in Dallas, Texas until 1959 when George’s career took them to Great Bend, Kansas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Midland, Texas; Roswell, New Mexico; and Hobbs, New Mexico where they retired until moving to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1997. Following the death of her husband George in 1998, Ruth moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband George Vernon Ricks and sister Jane Rauschelbach and her husband Pat and is survived by her brother Carl Knox and sister-in-law Carolyn of Arlington, Texas; son George Ricks and wife Linda of Dallas, Texas and their daughters Haley and Kelli; son Charles Ricks and wife Linda of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and their daughters Angela and Laura; son David Ricks and wife Jill of Jenks, Oklahoma and their daughters and families Katie Pratt and husband Jon and sons Everett, Isaiah and Noah; Cammie Price and husband Joshua and children Hadley, Thomas, and James; Kari Gibbs and husband Jordan and their daughter Lainey; and Cori Ricks.
