

Sherrie was born to Robert Lee Holt and Della Mae (Hardcastle) Holt in Oklahoma City on May 16, 1938. She was a lifelong Oklahoma City resident. Sherrie graduated from Central High School, class of 1956, and worked in business administration, including a long tenure at Sun Oil Co.
Sherrie was an intelligent, independent woman, known for her sense of humor and sharp wit; she was a great friend to many people. Sherrie was a member for many years of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She served as president of the local chapter for many years, and also functioned as the group’s photographer.
Sherrie was a charter member of North Side Christian Church in northwest Oklahoma City. For 54 years, from the time the church first began meeting in the North Side YMCA in 1967, Sherrie was a faithful attender, volunteer, and supporter. She considered the North Side congregation to be her family. Sherrie loved flowers and flower arranging, and she oversaw the church’s flower arrangements and holiday decorations from 1967 to 2020.
Prior to her recent hospitalization, Sherrie had never spent a night in the hospital. But from December 2020 to May 2021, she spent 157 days in various hospitals, battling pancreatitis, acute kidney injury, sepsis, pneumonia, Covid-19, stroke, and congestive heart disease.
Sherrie will be greatly missed by her church family, her sorority sisters, her four nieces, and many other friends and neighbors.
Sherrie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Della Mae Holt, and her two brothers, Louis Holt and Edgar “Eddie” Holt.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann (Holt) Eaton of Rapid City, South Dakota, and by four nieces: Louis’s two daughters, Sandra Jean Brooks of Indianola, OK, and Jerri Szczepka of Oklahoma City; Eddie’s daughter, Corliss L. “Corky” Wright of Valley View, TX; and Mary Ann’s daughter, Beverly Ann Woodford of Savannah, GA.
Sherrie’s remains will be buried next to her parents at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City. A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, May 27, at North Side Christian Church, 2526 NW 122nd Street, Oklahoma City.
