Shirley was born to Hester and Samantha Miller on November 24, 1934 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Bethel Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop James A Young. Shirley later moved to Oklahoma City and attended Highland Drive Church of God in Christ under Supt. Richard E Huff. The Church was renamed God’s Powerhouse Ministries under Pastor Joseph Marzett, Shirley served as church mother until her passing. She retired from Oklahoma Publishing Company after 37 years as food service manager. Shirley loved to shop and dress. She would not leave her house until everything was properly intact. She also had an eye for decorating. From her front porch to her bathroom everything would flow beautifully. Shirley was greeted at heaven’s gate by her parents, Hester and Samantha; brothers, Hester Jr. and Clarence Miller; sisters, Gladys Andrew and Nona (Toy) Gaines; and daughter, Ella Higgins. She is survived by daughters: Sharon Hughes (Walter), Charlotte Pam, Patricia Walls, and Danielle Williams (Kelvin); sons, Steffon Birts (Rae Sheryll) and Jerome Birts (Caroline); sisters, Rosemary Dozier and Martha Johnson; brothers: James Miller, Harold Miller and Harvey Miller; 21 grandchildren; and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews and friends.
