Suzanne Marie Shields

Suzanne Marie Shields of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025 following a long battle with cancer. Suzy was born August 3, 1961 in Duncan, Oklahoma. She attended Duncan United Methodist Church and graduated from Duncan High School in 1979.

She attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1983. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority where she met many life-long friends. After graduating from OU, Suzy earned a Master’s degree in Art Education in 1987 at UCO in Edmond.

Suzy married John Shields from Fort Smith, Arkansas on June 13, 1987 and the couple lived in Edmond for their nearly 38 year marriage. They raised 3 boys, Jack, Charlie, and Henry who were Suzy’s pride and joy.

She loved to play golf and made many friends in the Ladies Golf Association at Oak Tree, Kickingbird and Lincoln. She won numerous club championships and qualified and competed in 3 USGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships in 1990 (Pennsylvania), 1992 (Florida), and 1994 (Washington State).

Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Glennes Jenkins; sister, Daphne Goodson; and brother-in-law, Bobby Cox.

She leaves cherished memories with her husband John; sons Jack and wife Ashley of OKC, Charlie and wife Lauren of Guthrie, OK, and Henry of OKC; granddaughter Edie Marie; sisters Gay Cox of Edmond, OK, Sherri Gossett and husband Bill of Duncan, OK; brother Charles of OKC; brother-in-law Jerry Goodson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

The family will have a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial service to follow at 1:45pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, OK.
