Virginia was born on 10 March 1932 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Raymond & Christa Klopfenstein Purviance. She was the second of five children. Virginia grew up on a dairy farm with up to 100 cattle, SW of Guthrie, Oklahoma where she learned the values of hard work as she had many daily farm chores such as collecting eggs, driving the tractor at the age of 7 yrs old while her brother and father baled hay, to feeding the baby calves and chickens.
Her day started very early in the mornings and when her morning chores were done she rode her horse to school. There were times she drove the old work truck to school (at 7yrs old), across the old wooden, rickety, bridge which scared her every time she had to drive across because she could barely see over the steering wheel. Virginia was not allowed to drive across the main road where the school house sat on the other side of the road so she parked the truck and ran across the street.
After school when homework was done she had many more farm chores to do such as attending to her prize winning calf with the FFA. Mother said farm life was a very hard life, and the Best Road to be on was the “Road to Town."
In the spring of 1949, she met her husband to be, Warren G. Dimick. Warren had just returned to Guthrie after being discharged from the US Marine Corps. They secretly eloped on 31 Oct 1949 and were married in Gainesville, Texas. However, news traveled back to Guthrie they were married before they returned thanks to the newspaper. As Virginia was still in high school when they married, she continued her schooling & graduated from Guthrie High School in May of 1950. Their marriage lasted 64 years, until Warren's death 15 August 2013.
Virginia retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1975. After Virginia's children graduated high school she began breeding and showing Pomeranian dogs. She loved little kids and when her granddaughters, Kristin, Kendra and Kelli were born she took care of them while Jan, her daughter worked. She watched them for several years and loved having them around and being with them. Showing Pomeranians was her passion and she was extremely successful.
Virginia traveled with Warren almost every weekend to local shows and to out of state shows. Through her hard work of breading top quality Pomeranians she won multiple Blue Ribbons, many of her Pomeranians were Champions, Grand Champions and she achieved Best in Show several times. She was a member of the Pomeranian Club and taught classes on showing, handling, and grooming and before long she had several of the grandkids in the show ring at a young age showing Pomeranians. She established her Kennel name as Pufpride Pomeranians, it wasn't long before she was sought out across the US and other Countries for her pure bred, top quality Pomeranians. She made a lot of friends and worked with the best and was well known in the Pomeranian World. She absolutely loved and enjoyed every minute of it.
She was proud of her accomplishments, and when she wasn't in the show ring she loved spending time with her family.
Mother loved camping, she would load the trailer and make it a family event to spend weeks in the woods deer hunting season. A lot of memories were made sitting around the campfires, rock hunting, hiking, and just being together in the cold, winter woods. She loved spending time with family on holidays birthdays, 4 of July Fireworks show at the church, and every chance she could get going to the lake house. She loved going to the lake house as much as she did showing her Poms. There were so many good times together, she will be missed dearly, however, her legacy will go on with the memories and stories to tell sitting around the campfire at the lake house.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Warren, daughter Jan Hoskins, infants David Lee and Carol Ann, and Great-Grandson Kannon Foster. Also, brother Robert Purviance and Sister Joyce Norvell.
