Wesley Matthew Schuler was born on February 25, 1919 in Harrah, Oklahoma to Wesley and Laura Schuler, and departed his life on November 30, 2016. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Wesley and Laura Schuler; sisters, Vera Carpenter and Geneva Shaffer; twin brother, Lesley Schuler; & son, Steven Schuler. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Schuler; daughter, Sharon Hull; daughter-in-law, Tammy Schuler; grandchildren, John Blackburn, Kristina Hull, Steven Schuler, and Stefanie Schuler; & great-grandchildren.
Wes married Polly in Yale, OK in 1940. He accepted the call to serve in WWII and joined the Navy in 1942. He was dismissed with honorable discharge at the end of the war in 1945. Wes and Polly settled in the Oklahoma City area where they raised their two children, Sharon and Steve. Wes retired after 34 years from Santa Fe Railroad. In retirement, he devoted himself to his family, enjoyed golfing with his buddies, and spent time in his garden.
Wes was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a forever friend to many. He will be remembered for his strength, hard work, positive nature, and compassion for others. Wes’s door was always open for friends and family to stop by and they were always greeted with warm conversation and a hot cup of coffee.
Wes will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
