

William O. “Bill” Alexander of Oklahoma City, OK, was the adopted son of John Delmer & Flossie B. Alexander, born January 5, 1924 in Oklahoma City. Bill is the graduate from Classen High School and went on to the University of Oklahoma. He was drafted in 1943 an assigned to the Army ASTP program at the University of Mississippi. This program was canceled by Congress so Bill went to the 94th Infantry Division, later to become Drum Major of the division band.
In 1946, He enrolled at Oklahoma City University where Bill met and married Katherine I. “Katie” McMillan on August 23, 1947. He was preceded in death by his three sons: William O. Alexander Jr., John D. Alexander II, and James M. Alexander. He is survived by his daughters-in-law Lynne C. Alexander and Kathy Alexander, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jeannie and Chris LeBlanc and their children Kamber and Korbyn; Julie and Taber LeBlanc and their children Hunter, Teagen, Drake, and Brinklee; Janna and Josh Koehn and their children Kate and Hazel; Jill and Justin Hodges and their children Prestyn, Keaton and Deacon; Jacey and Cort Massey and their children Gage and Cale; Mary and Robert Hyde and their children Julian and Scarlet.
After WWII, he was appointed a First Lieutenant in the active reserves as an Intelligence Officer. He became the Commander of the OKC 23rd Counter Intelligence Corps that staffed by the OKC Police Officers. During this time, he graduated in 1948 with degrees in Economics and Finance. While in school he was listed in “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities” and Blue Key Honorary Society. During school, he established a part time insurance agency later knowns as Insurance Incorporated. In December 31, 1961, he sold the agency and went to work for the First National Bank and Trust Company of OKC.
While with the bank he organized and was President of the following subsidiaries: a money order company, subsequently sold to American Express company of NY, First Life Assurance Company, later transferred to the banks holding company. He was President of the banks FM radio Station KFNB until the station was sold. His final position was as Executive Vice President, member of the executive Committee, Advisory Director of the Bank Board of Directors and in charge of the Trust Department. During this period, he was Treasurer of the City of Nichols Hills for 13 years.
In 1986, he left the bank to become Chairman of the Board & CEO of Continental Federal Savings and Loan association. Reputed to be the oldest S&L in Ok. He retired in 1986.
January 1983, he was elected a Director of the Oklahoma City Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He was re-elected twice to complete the maximum term of service of six years on the board.
He served on the corporate boards and/or Committees: OKC Retailers Association, American Title & Trust Company, American Federal Savings & Loan Association. Invitational boards of the United States League of S&L’s, Economic Affairs, Legislative Political Liaison and Institutional Education.
Civic Organizations: Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce Retirement Committee, Better Business Bureau, Metro Action & Planners, Salvation Army, Economic Club and The Men’s Dinner Club. He belonged to the Masons #36AF&AM, Guthrie Consistory, India Temple and the Jesters.
A funeral service will be held on May 8th at 2pm at the Nichols Hills United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church, OCU Library or the Charity of your choice.
