Winford J. Moore, born on September 23, 1934 in Cushing, OK. He was the sixth child and fifth son of Gracey and Ruby Freeman Moore. He was preceded in death by both parents, his brothers, William, Willard, Wilbert, Wallace, and Charles and one sister, Mary.
Winford married Esther White, a high school classmate, and to this union a son, Bryan Keith (still born) and a daughter, Cynthia were born. Having been ministered to and receiving the plan of salvation, Winford confessed his belief in Jesus Christ.
An excellent student, Winford graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. With his mother's approval, he began working on his first job at the age of 14. He worked after school and during summers at the City Drug Store until he graduated. During the basketball season he kept time for the BTW Wildcat basketball games. In his free time, Winford and his friend worked on their bicycles, which he used for work and recreation, hanging out with the upper classmen and reading the newspapers.
Winford joined the Air Force hoping to become a pilot but was denied the opportunity. Instead he was trained in the field of computers. After his Honorable discharge from the Air Force, he made his home in Oklahoma City. He was employed as a Computer Operator at Tinker Air Force Base where he provided expert training to numerous co-workers. He was compensated with promotions, awards and later became a Supervisor.
Winford retired from Tinker in 1995. Following his retirement, he enjoyed keeping up with the progress of the city, reading the newspaper, walking around Lake Hefner, Lincoln Park and watching sports. Winford also made frequent trips to Cushing to spend time with his mother and other family members.
Winford departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2019. Those remaining to cherish fond memories are; daughter, Cynthia Patterson, (Colorado Springs, CO), three grandchildren, Joseph (Melissa), Iesha, and Joshua, one great-grandson, Noah, one great-grand daughter, Rinna, four sisters, Odette Scobey (Oklahoma City), Marva Morris and LauraLou Pierson (Robert), (Cushing, OK), Emma Moore,(Carson, CA), one brother, Erskine Moore, (San Diego, CA.) and a life-long friend, Wayne McIntosh, (California) , many loving nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
