It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Abigail Quiñones, who passed away on March 28th, 2023. Abigail, also know as Abby was born on March 30th, 1972, at Margaret Haugh Hospital, and grew up in Jersey City, NJ. Abby was the daughter of Awilda & Edwin Quiñones.
Throughout her life, Abby was known for her unwavering kindheartedness and infectious positivity. She had a deep love for animals, especially for family members pets, and was always looking for ways to help within her community, caring for others as a CNA, Medical Coder, a babysitter, and enjoyed serving the Lord at her church, Faith Assembly.
Abby’s passions were many, though she was especially talented in making some good rice, beans and pork chops in which she found peace and joy in feeding her family. Abby had a continuous hunger for knowledge for her work and put many years into achieving her degrees in Medical Coding. She was a capable and intelligent woman who personified strength and resilience, always striving to become her personal best. Her gentle sincerity and unwavering dedication to her goals inspired all who knew her. She loved to laugh and reminisce on old 80’s music and freestyle music.
Abby, most of all, dedicated a tremendous amount of time to our Lord and the Gospel. She spoke about scripture to us when she could and her favorite book of the Bible was the book of Psalms. When in her apartment, you would find post it notes all around her home with reminders of scripture and positive encouragement to herself. All her bibles, books and journals would all have post it tabs for studying and marking her favorite verses that impacted her during times of trouble.
Abigail had a long time of pain and suffering. If you knew Abby, you knew a small amount of her story struggling with Lupus. She lived passed the prognosis given by her doctor which was that she would only survive until 20 years old but Abby lived to be 50 years old. Abby was a very private person. She didn’t want to burden anyone with the things she struggled with and went through. She always tried to keep a smile on her face to hide her pain. Abby always gave 100% of herself when she could. She always thought of others first and dedicated her life to those she cared about. Abby loved watching shows like Golden Girls, Blue Bloods and any oldie shows. A few of Abby’s favorite movies were War Room, Gone With The Wind and The Outsiders. Abigail’s big, beautiful heart will be greatly missed.
Abby is survived by her mother and father, Awilda and Edwin Quiñones, her brother, Julio Quiñones, her niece, Annette Quiñones, and nephews Michael Quiñones and Julio Quiñones Jr, her grandfather, Santos L. Rivera, uncles, aunts, and cousins who will hold her always in their hearts. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May her memory be a blessing to us all. Rest in peace with our Lord, Babygirl.
