She is survived by her daughters Leigh Schwartau and Karla Bowman Schwartau and grandchildren Jerry Lee Bowman and Cody Lee Bowman.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio August 16, 1928 to Peter C and Julia Leibersberger.
Moved to New York City, where she met and married William Schwartau in 1959. They separated after they had 2 daughters. She was a single mom and raised 2 strong girls.
Her passions include art, music and theater. She was an art major in college. And she was in musicals at the Cleveland. Playhouse and in New York. Did commercial work too.
She had many occupations including bookkeeper, actress, waitress, realtor and Avon Lady. She was also involved in the Moose Lodge and president of the association of her building.
She had many friends. And loved by all. She had a strong outgoing personality, full of generosity and love. Spitfire, vivacious, spunky were words used to describe her.
In the end, after her stroke 5 years ago, she had dementia.
Karla helped take care of her until we had to move her in to a nursing home after she broke her hip. She had her memory, but her body started to fail. This last year wasn't kind to anyone, but being isolated added to her decline.
She was able to spend her last moments with her daughter Leigh, so she wasn't alone.
She will be missed by us all.
The World was a better place because she was here.
