Catalina Melendez Colon

Catalina Meledez Colon of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, passed away on July 31, 2026 surrounded by love, family and tucked away in her bed. She was born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico on February 6, 1935 to Simplicio Melendez and Maria Colon. Mama Catin spent her last days listening to birds, watching butterflies and surrounded by flowers in her favorite place, the garden. She was married to Mario Vazquez Bonet, who she allowed to believe ran a strict household for his wife and 7 children, all the while knowing she was actually in charge. Mama Catin never met a stranger. To know her was to be family.

Mama Catin adored each of her 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, treating each one like they were the one and only.

She is survived by her siblings Gloria, Elba, Cruz Maria, Francisco and Florentino, children Noelia V. Rodriguez (Julio Rodriguez), Vilma Vazquez (Raul Perez) Sandra V. Workman (Tom Workman) Noemi Vazquez, Mario Vazquez (Gladys De Jesus) and Iliabel Vazquez (Hector Rosa), Grandchildren Yovannie, Ricardo, Gerardo, Felix, Christian, Hoyaira, Derek, Kathielys, Stephen, Stephanie, Christopher and Matthew, and great grandchildren Soriah, Yarian, Jean Carlos, Minoelix, Jacob, Addilyn, and Ariella.

Greeting her in heaven were Mama Catin’s parents, siblings Alberto Justo and Claudia, her husband and her daughter, Zoraida.

Visitation will be held at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817, US, on August 5, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Funeral will be held at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817, US, on August 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

El dia 31 de julio del 2026,

Catalina Meléndez Colón, rodeada del amor de su familia, partió a morar con El Señor.

Catalina nació en Jayuya, Puerto Rico, el 6 de febrero del 1935. Fueron sus padres, Simplicio Meléndez y María Colón.

Mamá Catin pasó sus últimos días en el jardín, rodeada de flores, este siendo su lugar favorito. Allí se deleitaba con el canto de las aves y el va y ven de las mariposas.

Fue su esposo Mario Vazquez Bonet, a quien ella le dejó creerse el jefe estricto de su hogar y 7 hijos.

Mientras tanto se sabía ella era la directora de todo.

A mamá Catin se le conocía por su bondad. Nunca había un extraño en su vida, pues de conocerla ya eras familia.

Adoraba a sus 7 hijos, 12 nietos y 7 biznietos. Trataba a cada uno como si fueran el único en su vida.

A mamá Catin le sobreviven sus hermanos, Gloria, Elba, Cruz María, Francisco y Florentino. Igualmente sus hijos,

Sandra V. Workman (Tom Workman),

Noemí Vazquez,

Mario Vazquez (Gladys De Jesus), e

La reciben en el cielo sus padres Simplicia y Maria, su esposo, Mario, su pequeña hija Zoraida, sus hermanos Alberto Justo y Claudia .

La celebración de la vida de Catalina se efectuará el 5 de agosto del 2026, en la Funeraria

Baldwin Fairchild-Chapel Hill- Orlando.

Visitacion en Capilla de 11 am a 1 pm, inmediatamente seguido por un servicio.
