Born on May 26, 1942, in West Virginia to Howard and Goldie Young, Deanna—known affectionately to her family as Granny—was a true original. She spent many years enjoying the sunshine in Florida before returning to North Carolina to share her life with her late, long-time love, Joe Cable.
Deanna always knew her own mind and never hesitated to tell you exactly how it was. She took real pride in how she looked and stuck to a non-negotiable routine: she never left the house without her lipstick and her cigarettes, always put-together and ready for the day.
Some of her favorite moments were spent around the table playing Aggravation with her grandkids. It became a long-running family joke that she was a total cheat at the game, though in reality she was just sharp, competitive, and loved keeping everyone on their toes with a wink and a smile.
Beneath her feisty side was a heart of absolute gold, and she loved her family more than anything. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Bowden, and her two sons, John and Jack. And brothers Bobby and Wayne young
Deanna is survived by her son, Joseph (Erica) Bowden of Bushnell, FL; brother Keith Young of NC, her grandchildren, Jaclyn (James) Carrell of DeLand, FL, Harlie (Kyle) Sowell of Bushnell, FL, Lyndsey (Dallas) Sizemore of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, and JJ Fisher of Orlando, FL; and her 11 great-grandchildren.
She will be missed immensely for her loving heart, her signature style, and the humor she brought into every room.
A Graveside Service will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2400 HARRELL RD, ORLANDO, FL 32817, US, on October 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
