

Doris D. Wood, age 94, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 after a brief illness with her family at her side. She was born in Walton, NY on July 8, 1930 to Monroe Dow and Margaret McDonough. She attended Walton Central School. She married the love of her life Clarence (Hank) Wood on June 29, 1952 who predeceased her in May 2018. While her young groom was serving in the US Army in Korea, she gave birth to their first daughter, Cindi. After returning from his service duty, the young couple added two more daughters, Pamela and Deborah raising their family in Sidney Center, NY. They eventually moved to Unadilla, NY before relocating to Orlando, FL for their retirement. Doris worked for the Scintilla Magneto Company/Amphenol Aerospace as a Quality Control Inspector until her retirement in 1992.
Doris and her family were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sidney, NY until they moved to Orlando, FL. They then joined Good Shepherd Catholic Church until the passing of Hank. Doris then attended Holy Family Catholic Church via a web service at Harbor Chase where she resided. As a family, they enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling and family gatherings. She was always a wife and mom first, lovingly caring for her family. While residing in an Independent Living community, she enjoyed board and card games with her community friends.
Doris and Hank loved to dance and were always captivating on the dance floor. Doris is once again wearing her dancing shoes and floating across the dance floor with her handsome groom.
Doris is survived by her three loving daughters, Cindi (Don) McIlvenna, Pam (Ken) Barton and Debbie (John) Donohue, grandchildren, Heidi Williams, Joe McIlvenna, Heather Barton-Burke, Lucas Barton and Adam Barton, ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers James and Richard Dow and sisters, Margaret McNee, Elizabeth Wood and Virginia Benedict.
A funeral mass will be conducted at Holy Family Catholic Church with Interment immediately following at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando, FL.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord.
And let the perpetual light shine upon her.
And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
