She is the third child born to God-fearing parents PIERRE Marie Lorricide “Cide” (deceased) and LAZARRE Meprilorme “Blanc” (deceased). From the stories she often told, it is evident she had an amazing childhood filled with simplicity, wonder and adventure. She grew up, attended primary school in her local hometown. An intelligent and competitive young girl, she surpassed most of her peers, even in school.
With a heavy heart, Germicide emigrated to Saint Martin in 1988 where she had two sons Jordan and Gregory, but she missed dearly her family and children (Kerrene and Wensley) she left behind. Haiti never left her heart, no matter how far she went! She later emigrated to The United States in 2000, where she had her last child Shafara. She made it a priority have her baby girl “Shasha” accompany her to the land she loved so dearly. She met Mr. Louis Larose in 2008, the gentle-man with whom she would spend her final years with.
Nurturing was ingrained in her DNA. She easily stepped in as a mother to her siblings and anyone she met needing a mother like figure. She was a tough cookie, resilient and feisty! She never backed down to anything that came in her way. She truly possessed the heart of a soldier…
Germicide loved life and people! She had a way of making others feel special, through the art of cooking. She was a certified 5 STAR Cook! Feeding people brought her great joy; her signature dishes was tchaka or ragout. She was an entrepreneur in her own rights. Often, she would cook, pack her van and went around selling her delicious food to others in town. She actually dreamed of someday working in and owning her own restaurant.
The next spot you would be sure to catch her is at Goodwill—she enjoyed thrifting! There she would find all types of goodies and beautiful clothes--only to send most them back home to the least fortunate of Haiti because she never forgot her roots. Her garage often resembled a hidden forest!
Strong and courageous, she believed in loving your enemies and giving even when you don’t get anything back in return. A GIVER at heart, she was a loving mother whose’ life work was to sacrifice everything she had just to ensure ALL of her children would have a better tomorrow. This extraordinary woman instilled kindness and good manner in her children and taught how to be resourceful and never wasteful. To date, the most significant thing she has done is to encourage all her children to know and have a relationship with God. Even on the worst days, they never doubted her love because they knew it was UNCONDITIONAL.
After a long-fought battle, Germicide gently slid into eternity and breathed her last breath on Tuesday February 18th, 2025—just 5 months shy of losing her eldest and dear sister Sulthane “Tatane” Lazarre. She leaves behind so many loved ones. As a friend, sister, mother-in-law and auntie, she was everyone’s biggest supporter. In the end, all she lived to do was to prepare all of us and her children alike how to stand tall even through life’s greatest storms (in losing her). You remain in our hearts still; we will forever cherish and love the mother we were blessed to have. Peace to her soul, may earth rest gently on her breasts…until we meet again.
