“Pito”
April 28, 1946 – August 1, 2025
There are people who walk through life quietly, and then there are those who fill the room before they even say a word — that was Pito.
On August 1st, 2025, at the age of 79, Hector M. Iglesias, Sr. took his final breath on this side of eternity, surrounded by loved ones. Though our hearts ache, we are grateful beyond words for the time we were blessed to share with him.
Born in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, and raised in the heart of Fajardo, Pito was a proud Puerto Rican through and through — music ran through his veins and joy lived in his spirit. He was the son of Juan Iglesias and Eduviges Torres, and from humble beginnings, he grew into a man who left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
To know Pito was to love him. He was kind in a way the world desperately needs more of. He made people laugh without even trying —His jokes, his stories, the way he could turn any moment into a memory — these are treasures we’ll carry with us forever.
But the heart of his life was his family. He was a devoted husband, married 60 years to Hilda Iglesias – Pita. Together, they built a legacy, raising three children — Hector Jr., Heriberto, and Maria Lourdes — who knew their father as a man who gave everything, he had without ever asking for anything in return. His six grandchildren were his pride and joy. In their laughter, he found peace. In their hugs, he found purpose as they are his legacy.
Pito also shared an unshakable bond with his brother, Francis Robles — a connection built on love, loyalty, and a lifetime of shared memories. It was the kind of bond that time could never weaken, and even now, we still see and feel that brotherly connection in the way Francis carries Pito in his heart.
Pito loved music, food and a home full of family. He loved life.
We will gather to celebrate his life on Friday, August 8th, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that the love he gave so freely will never fade.
