Born on February 9th, 1967, in Manhattan, New York, Jenny was the beloved child of Pablo Hicks Galarza and Monserrate Morales Garcia. She grew up in Puerto Rico, graduated from the Interamerican University, and pursued a career with the U.S. Social Security Administration. She began as a Summer Aid, developed into a Clerk Typist, a Hearing Officer Clerk, a Legal Assistant, and then a Paralegal Specialist. During her career she was able to move to Orlando after starting a family with Jose Lopez. She worked with the U.S. Social Security Administration until continuing her career as a Paralegal Specialist with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services until late 2019.
She had a passion for running and participated in several marathons, including the Chicago Marathon, the New York City Marathon, and the St. Jude’s Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon. She loved dancing and is remembered fondly by her “Cha Cha Girls.” She loved traveling and had the opportunity to travel to France and Spain. She will be missed as an adventurous travel partner. She adored music and raised her children around Puerto Rican traditions such as Christmas Parrandas. The rhythm she brought and her spirit of encouraging others to join in the beat will be missed. Her pleneras will be well loved.
She also loved spending time with family and friends. Whether camping (glamping) at Disney, or joining family at the Turtle Crawl Inn, no holiday was an opportunity missed to spend time with her family. This was especially true on Christmas Eve, during which she would insist that all present call her youngest sister for her birthday, at midnight; and during New Year’s which she most frequently rang in with her eldest sister and her children.
She is survived by her children, Natalie Lopez (Michael Humpherys) and Francisco Lopez; her sisters, Elizabeth Hicks Morales and Marilyn Hicks Morales; and her nieces and nephews, Dinah Negron, Jonathan Negron, German Collazo, Julian Figueroa, Jonathan Lopez (Gabriela Agosto Lopez), Alexander Lopez, and Kristina Lopez. She was preceded in death by her parents.
