Jose Luis Martinez Jr.

José, born on April 24, 1967, was affectionately known as Joe, by his mother; Happy by his family; and Marty by his friends. Regardless of what name he answered to, he always answered with a grin on his face and a warm heart. Joe proudly served in and retired from the New York City Department of Corrections.

Joe loved spending time with friends, fishing and his most recent passion salsa dancing. A connoisseur of steak and whiskey, Joe was certainly someone anyone could enjoy a meal with -A mi me gusta el chivo con vino / Y el pescao con jugo de limón / Con pimienta y orégano el lechón / Y el arroz con jamón y tocino / Para ponerle el sabor a buen fiestón.- He truly was the life of the party. We will always remember his larger-than-life presence, his sincere smile, his quick wit and his hearty laugh.

Joe is survived by his mother Jenny, his son Giovanni, his sister Melissa, her children Julian and Jordan; his sisters Jennifer and Jaivonne; his cousins Tommy, Mike, Paul and Tony and his many colleagues and friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his father José Luis Martinez, Sr.

His friends and family will gather to celebrate his life on Sunday January 9, 2022 from 2-7pm at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road Orlando, FL 32817.
