Born on March 16, 1931 to Floyd and Irene (Taube) Fournier in Detroit, MI
After marrying his high school sweetheart Dorothy Garrity on February 24, 1951
He serviced in the Air Force for two years in Roswell, NM where their first daughter, Kathyrn (Kathy) was born. After leaving the Air Force, they traveled to Daytona Beach, FL to continue their life long journey together.
While in Daytona Beach Lloyd and Nancy were born.
Wanting to give their children a Christian education in the Lutheran Church they moved to Orlando, FL where they were able to send their children to a Lutheran school at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In Orlando, they completed their family with the addition of Donald and Carol.
Melvin was a Journeyman Electrician in the IBEW and worked his early years at Cape Canaveral (Kennedy Space Center) in the 60s. He continued his career as an Electrician until retiring in the 90s running jobs all across the state of Florida. (Wiring Convention Centers, Hospitals, a Draw Bridge, the Magic Kingdom Monorail, houses and much, much more).
Mel was a devoted husband and loving father who loved the Lord and had an active church life in the Lutheran Church until the day he went to Heaven.
He Served as Head Usher, Elder, Greeter, Youth Leader, and AAL Lamplighter at many Lutheran Churches during his life.
His parents, three siblings and his son Donald precede Melvin.
