Myrtle Adolphine Thompson, 91, entered eternal rest on December 15, 2026. Born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, to Olga May Maitland and Nathaniel Thompson, Myrtle was a vibrant spirit with a lifelong calling to serve children. In 1965, she realized her dream as the founder and teacher of Excella Basic School in Duhaney Park., Kingston Jamaica.
In 1957, Myrtle married the love of her life, Reynold Wesley Groves. Together, they relocated to the Massachusetts, United States in 1978 and later to Orlando, Florida, in 1996. A steadfast Christian, she served faithfully as a Church Clerk and Sunday School teacher.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Reynold; son, Raphael; and three siblings. Her legacy lives on through her children: Maxine, David, Durwin, Jacqueline, Michelle, Marsha, Shawn, and Meggon; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will forever call her "Mother.
