July 26, 1931 – July 6, 2026
Nancy Roberta Gonzalez peacefully went home to be with God on July 6, 2026. While our hearts mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman, we rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Nancy lived her life with unwavering faith in God, finding strength, peace, and purpose in her relationship with the Lord. Her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit reflected the love of Christ, and she shared that love generously with her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Nancy discovered her passion for art at the age of twelve when her mother gave her an easel and painting supplies. That thoughtful gift sparked a lifelong love of creativity. Even as life led her through marriage, raising her family, and owning and operating florist shops, her artistic spirit remained at the center of who she was. She possessed a remarkable ability to see God’s beauty in His creation and bring it to life through her paintings.
Flowers were among Nancy’s greatest joys. Whether arranging them, tending to gardens, or capturing their beauty on canvas, she found endless inspiration in the world God created. She also loved painting birds, landscapes, wildlife, and peaceful nature scenes, each piece reflecting her appreciation for the beauty and wonder of creation.
Although largely self taught, Nancy became an accomplished and respected artist throughout Central Florida. She was a member of the Central Florida Watercolor Society, the Art League of Orange County, the Central Florida Art Association, and the Florida Watercolor Society. Her work was juried into the Maitland Art Museum and exhibited in museums, libraries, civic centers, and galleries throughout the region. Though honored for her artistic achievements, Nancy remained humble, believing that art was a gift from God meant to bring beauty, peace, and joy to others.
Nancy believed everyone possessed a creative spirit and often encouraged others to embrace their own talents. She found joy not only in creating art but in sharing it, inspiring those around her to appreciate the beauty found in both nature and everyday life.
Above all, Nancy’s greatest calling was loving her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a faithful example of God’s love. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and growing family, always making each person feel loved, welcomed, and special.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved son, John K. Walwyn.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Nemesio “Chic” Gonzalez; her children, Nancy G. Roy of Cape Coral, Florida, Judy L. Riendeau of Winter Springs, Florida, and Barry R. Walwyn of Lebanon, Connecticut.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jennifer Fox, Aimee Soles, Danielle Ross, Christina Roy, Christian Riendeau, Daniel Riendeau, John Riendeau, and Leah Walwyn. She also leaves behind many cherished great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Nancy’s legacy will continue to bloom through the flowers she loved, the artwork she created, the faith she lived, and the family she cherished so deeply. Her life was a beautiful reflection of God’s grace, and those who knew her were blessed by her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love.
While our hearts mourn her passing, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We find comfort knowing that Nancy is now in the presence of her Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Every flower she planted, every brushstroke she painted, and every life she touched reflected the beauty she carried within. Though she will be deeply missed, her faith, her love, and the beauty she created will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
A graveside service will be held at SE Cemeteries of Florida DBA Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2400 HARRELL RD, ORLANDO, FL 32817, US, on July 12, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
