Orlando, Florida- Randy Patterson, 77, passed away January 18th, 2021 from Lewy Body Dementia. He was born September 12, 1943 in Dalton Georgia the son of Fred Patterson and Ruth (Hall) Campbell.
Randy graduated from Edgewater High School in 1963. Following graduation, he joined the Orlando Fire Department and then he spent time in the Caribbean working for Pan Am Airlines. He returned to the states and became a member of the Army Reserves and married his high school sweetheart, Nannette Ruffing. They celebrated 53 years of marriage last October. Randy and Nan opened Patterson Well Drilling in 1969. It continues to thrive under the direction of Dan Loucks, Randy’s longtime friend and foreman of 40 years. He was a long-standing member of the Florida Ground Water Association. Randy was also successful in the real estate market as a builder and an investor. He was a valued member of the Orlando community.
Randy and Nan were members of the Rio Pinar Country Club for 30 years. He shared many great times there with his friends. He loved to golf, and share laughs with his many dear friends at Rio. He was a member of Beech Mountain Country Club in North Carolina for 25 years. He loved golfing, snow skiing and spending wonderful family vacations at their home in the mountains. Randy loved the ocean, snorkeling, diving, fishing, and spending time at his home in Flagler Beach with his family.
Randy was a kind and generous man. He was the very best husband, father and “Pa” and will be deeply missed. He was a great storyteller and always had a joke for you. He was especially gifted at turning the negative into a positive. He had a sweetness and kindness that could turn tears into laughter and regret into hope. He found the very best in everyone and brought smiles and laughter to every gathering. He solved our every problem and was a man you could depend on and trust. The world needs more men like Randy and his departure will leave a legacy.
Randy’s survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nannette, daughter Marla Lee, daughter Tonya McGowan and her husband Jeff McGowan; 6 grandchildren, Tyler Lee, Tommy Lee, Zach McGowan, Kendall McGowan, Brooke McGowan, and Dalton McGowan; his siblings, JoAnn Ingram, Jackie Evans and Calvin Patterson.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic a Celebration of Life will be held in late spring or early summer. All family and friends will be notified so they can join in the joyous remembrance of Randy Patterson.
