Rita Marie McGinn

Rita Marie McGinn, age 95, of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2022 at Winter Park Rehab Nursing Home in Maitland, Florida with her daughter, Carolyn at her side. Rita was one of 11 children born to Josephine and James Dvorak of Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Visitation High School in Chicago and later married Howard Rydin. Together they had 2 daughters, Susan and Carolyn. Rita was the Treasurer of Kanak and Sons Inc. of Cicero, Illinois for many years. Later, Rita married Vince McGinn and they owned and operated Lake Aire Supper Club of Clintonville, Wisconsin.

In 1988 Rita moved to Orlando, Florida and worked as a cook at Palm Garden Nursing Home. After retiring at 65, Rita returned to the workforce after a one year hiatus and began working in the bakery department at Publix part time. Rita loved nothing more than giving of herself. During the 1990’s she enjoyed volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister and helping with other activities at St. Joseph Catholic Church, especially those involving food.

Rita was a loving grandmother of 4 and great grandmother of 12 and great great grandmother of 3. She cherished being involved in the daily lives and activities of her grandchildren both in Florida and Wisconsin. She was one of the first residents of St. Joseph Garden Apartments in Orlando and made many friends there over the 12 years she resided there. Rita was a long time parishioner of St Joseph Church.

She is survived by her 2 loving daughters and their families: Carolyn (Herb) Preiner and their children, Katie (Louis) Ventre and son Sam; Michael (Christina) Preiner twin sons, Jacob and Matt; Susan (Fred-deceased) Cerkoney and their children, Stephanie(Willy Holden) Luebke and her children, Aaron, Justin (Katie) and sons Brody and Jax, Megan, Lindsey: Jason (Jodi) Cerkoney and children Riley (Greg); Rhandyn (David) and son Cohen, Rance (Brittni), Regan and Ella.

Rita was cherished by her large family and will remain in their hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association is greatly appreciated.

A funeral mass for Rita will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1501 N Alafaya Trail, Orlando, FL 32828.
