Born on November 20, 1946, he was the youngest of nine children born to the late William Peter and Lois Carrie (Samples) Hershberger.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Billy Basil and Earl Bratton Hershberger, and five sisters, Juanita McClanahan, Blanche Lanham, Betty Groves, Lucille Conrad, and Lucille’s infant twin Lucy Hershberger.
Bob was a heavy equipment operator by trade. He helped to develop many of the neighborhoods in Central Florida as well as a significant number of roads and developments in West Virginia. He had a love for cars and drag racing. Bob was an amazing person with a brilliant problem-solving mind. He could build or fix anything. And he was always willing to help anyone in any situation. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, and grandfather. His first priority was always his family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda May Hershberger of Orlando, children, Cheryle Lynn (Rodney) Oandasan of Gainesville, VA, Diane Lois Kelley of Orlando, FL, Karen Marie (Bryce) Denker of Orlando, FL, and James Robert (Aimee) Hershberger of Deltona, FL. Seven Grandchildren, Ashton Michele Kelley of Elkview, WV, Nicole Lalani (Dan) Oandasan of Arlington, VA, Alexander Robert (Jessica) Kelley of Orlando, FL, Ariel Lynn (Brian) Voorhees of Ashburn, VA, Anthony Chase (Amber) Holcomb of Orlando, FL, Matthew Oandasan of Gainesville, VA, and Ava Joan Hershberger of Deltona, FL. He is also survived by his brother Frederick Howard (Sheila) Hershberger of Akron, OH, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025, Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home at Chapel Hill in Orlando, FL. Immediately following, there will be a graveside service at the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
