Robert served his country with faithful pride as a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1974 to 1978 as a submariner and medic corpsman. He carried that same steady sense of duty into a hard-working career in insurance, earning respect through reliability, perseverance, and the quiet strength of a man who believed in showing up and doing the work well.
On July 22, 1978, Robert married Donna Ann McFarland. In the years that followed, he remained devoted to the people he loved, anchoring his life in commitment and care.
Robert enjoyed watching Westerns and sports, and his deep Christian faith was a guiding presence throughout his life steady, sincere, and enduring.
Robert is survived by his children, Bryan Pettis and Lisa Johnson (Jason); his grandchildren, Samuel and Ava Johnson; and his siblings, Jo-An Lusk and Jeanne Stearns. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Joyce Pettis, and his brother, Jack Jr.

A Committal Service will follow from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm on August 30, 2026, at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2400 HARRELL RD, ORLANDO, FL 32817, US.
