

He served in the United States Army; worked as an auto mechanic and HVAC tech. In New York, Roberto (Chocolate or Choco) was very involved in Hunts Point Multi Service Baseball League, in NY and his involvement with the Hispanic Community and was given the Keys to New York twice for all his efforts in the Puerto Rico Day Parade.
In Florida, he was a member of St. James Cathedral Catholic Church; a member of the Knight of Columbus, a member of Iniciative Accion Puertorriquena and Florida Puerto Rican Parade Board member. He was also an avid pool player at the Marks Senior Canter and Renaissance Senior Center.
Roberto is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Hortencia Benjamin; children, Enrique Romero, Roberto Benjamin, Jr., Judith Benjamin, Wanda Benjamin, Lillian Jimenez and Michelle Benjamin; grandchildren, Roberto Romero Rivera, Roberto Benjamin III, Yara Benjamin, Camille Rivera, Orlando “OJ” Rivera, Jr., Franchesca L. Ortiz, Gina Rivera, Gelissa Bultron, Jonathan Jimenez and Jason Jimenez; great grandchildren, Andre Romero, Adriana Romero, Robert Benjamin, Ryan Benjamin, Mason Benjamin, Noah Benjamin, Adriana Quinones Benjamin, Jonathan Quinones Benjamin, Kaili L. Garza, Gianna P. Rivera, and siblings, Rodolfo Benjamin and Luz A. Benjamin. He was predeceased by son William Benjamin.
