People who knew and loved William also called him Bill, Wilhelm, Baron, Sir, Honey, Dad, and O’Pa.
He was born on September 11, 1945 in New York, NY and was raised on a sprawling farm in New Jersey.
His family tree has roots in German nobility and the young Baron grew from those roots into a man who valued a good meal, a good laugh with good people.
William was proud to serve in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He carried both the weight and pride of the experience close to his heart.
He valued service by ushering in the churches where he was a parishioner (St John Neumann in Gaithersburg, MD and Blessed Trinity in Orlando, FL) and also, by becoming a member of The Knights of Columbus.
Freelance Photography was one of his life long joys- He had a gift for capturing moments and faces.
Opinions on politics and pastries carried equal passion for Bill.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne von Boecklin Korson, and his parents.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Elsa, and four daughters; Laura Curry, Andrea Smithberger and her husband Jason, Angela D’Angelo and her husband Matt and Katherine Henson and her husband Justin and 11 grandchildren; Zachary and Emma Schmidt, Lauren, John, Lucy, Joseph & Lily Smithberger, Madeline & Jack D’Angelo, Isabella & Jackson Henson.
William will be fondly remembered for his firm handshake, his love of pastries, a good book, long drives with the windows down, doting on his wife, his love for his girls and grandchildren.
A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday June 9th, 11:00 at Blessed Trinity Church.
