

William (Bill) A. Walker, Jr. passed away peacefully on August 17th, 2021. Born in Richmond, Virginia to William, Sr. and Anna Mae McMullian on November 28, 1927. He attended schools in Richmond until he joined the United States Navy in 1948. In 1953 he was married to Minnie Mae King while stationed at the Naval Air Station Sanford, Florida. They raised two children together while moving around the country to numerous duty stations during Bill's 22 year service to his country. He was deployed to various aircraft carriers as a Aviation Support Equipment Master Chief in charge of the catapult and arresting gear departments. The highlight of his career was, while assigned to the USS Kitty Hawk, servicing as Chief Master at Arms and assigned as Security Detail to President John F. Kennedy during Armed Forces tour in 1963. He was one of the commissioning crew members of the USS Enterprise. He remained a member of the Naval Aviation Boatswains Mate Association until the time of his death.
After Bill's Navy Retirement, he worked as a property manager at various Florida condominiums. Later, he and Minnie enjoyed traveling in their RV until they settled in Polk County. Florida.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years in June 2020, his parents and two sisters, Elizabeth Wade and Mary Dunn Foote. He is survived by his two children, Jo Ellen (William) Bailey, and William Walker. He is also survived by two grandsons, William (Billy) Bailey and Jason Bailey. His Great Grandchildren, Cayne and Alexa Bailey, were the light of his life.
Burial will be a private service at the family's convenience.
