Andy Boyce Peterson, Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Friday, August 30 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Ronald McDonald House.
Andy was born May 11, 1928 in Broken Arrow, OK. He was married to Lois Peterson on July 29, 1949. He worked as a truck driver for Conoco for 36 years, retiring in 1990. During that time he became their first driver to accumulate 3,000,000 miles without an accident and won numerous safety and loyalty awards. Andy always enjoyed fishing, family, and Kansas City sports. He never missed a ball game, dance recital or any other activity his grandkids were involved in. In retirement, he never slowed down. There was always yard work to do, chores to complete, something to fix, or lottery tickets to buy. Whether you called him Andy, husband, Dad, Grandy, brother, Uncle Bo, neighbor or friend, he was always willing to lend a hand and smile while doing it.
He was preceded in death by parents Alfred Augustus and Fanny (Dotson) Peterson; son Michael Andy Peterson; three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by: his wife, Lois, Overland Park, KS; daughter, Andra Overland Park; granddaughter Lindsay (Dustin), Manhattan, KS; grandson Aaron (Morgan), Louisburg, KS; sisters Maxine Knoll and Janice Sawyer, both of Broken Arrow, OK, and sister Allie Pool of Bolivar, MO; and three great grandchildren.
