Bernice was born February 28, 1924 in Piqua, KS to Carl and Mary (Konen) Specht. Bernice and Paul H. Wille were married August 23, 1950. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. More than anything, she loved her family and caring for them.
She graduated from Yates Center High School in 1942 and was always proud sharing that she was class valedictorian. She enjoyed being a homemaker and working at Valley View United Methodist Mother’s Day Out for over 20 years where she made great and lasting friends. She was an excellent seamstress and a terrific cook and dessert maker; her cookie trays made for family gatherings are legendary.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, her parents, and her son, John. She is survived by her daughter Diana (Fred Spears) of Overland Park, KS, son Mark (John Shea) of West Palm Beach, FL, sister Mary Louise (late William) Collins, brothers Lloyd (late Matilda) Specht, Henry (late June) Specht, Arch (Amy) Specht of Piqua, KS, and Frank (Mandy) Specht, and numerous nieces and nephews. Known as Aunt Bea to many, Bernice will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 25, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 West 103rd Street, Overland Park, KS followed by entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014, followed by visitation from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, KS. An additional visitation will be prior to Mass on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Overland Park or to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.
