Betty Ann Englund

June 5, 1929October 25, 2018

Betty Ann Englund, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Oct. 25, 2018. Her visitation will begin at 1:00pm followed with a service at 2:00pm on Friday, November 2 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Leslie W. Englund, at the Leavenworth National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Betty was a woman of faith and love. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joys of her life. She always placed Christ and her family before herself and tried to make sure her family’s needs were met before her own.

Betty loved having her family gather around her kitchen table on Sunday night for a delicious home-cooked meal. The grandkids especially enjoyed the dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, and chocolate pudding served for dessert.

Betty enjoyed playing boardgames and cards with friends and family. The Grandchildren remember what fun it was playing Old Maid, Concentration, and The Addams Family Board Game with her when they would spend the night. Even in the nursing home she would request a fun game of Go-Fish, War, or BINGO.

Betty loved the holidays. On birthdays, she would bake the world’s best chocolate bunt cake with cherries. Christmas was described as a dream come true. After all the children arrived at her home begging to open gifts, she would allow all the children to open just one gift and the rest were given Christmas night. The grandchildren loved Christmas with their grandma so much that leaving her home Christmas night, they would start the 365 day count down until Christmas with grandma would come again.

Betty was generous and cared so much for her family. Her faith, love and give-fist mentality made her the matriarch of our family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Steve Englund; daughters, Donna Bolbecker and Teresa Ann "Terry" Englund. She is survived by grandsons, Jeff Englund, Chris Bolbecker and wife, Alex, Jon Bolbecker, Jason Bolbecker; granddaughter, Beth Englund and great grandchildren.
