Betty LaClaire Robinson Coté of Castle Pines, Colorado, went to be with her Lord in heaven on April 18, 2026, at the age of 90. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia, in 1935, Betty was the daughter of John Tabor Robinson and Nettie Mae Tabor (known to many as "Thelma Mae"). From a young age, Betty was a spirited, gifted performer and an imaginative storyteller who could captivate any audience. Her passion for the arts eventually led her to New York City to immerse herself in the study of acting. It was there, amidst the city’s creative energy, that she married the love of her life, Herbert Coté in 1957, beginning a beautiful 60-year journey together until Herb’s passing in 2016.
A devoted Christian, Betty cherished her church communities in Stilwell, Kansas and Gainesville, Georgia. Known as "Grandmama" to her grandchildren, she brought joy, laughter, and spirited sass to all who knew her, and delighted in creating make-believe adventures with her grandchildren. She found great fulfillment volunteering with young children and was an accomplished actress, performing in community theatres. A talented writer as well, she was especially proud of having authored two books: Stories from My Life and Little Mouse Searches For his Name.
Betty’s legacy of love and creativity lives on through her family. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Broc and Susan Coté, Nanette and Clark Griffith, and Scott and Petra Coté; as well as cherished generations of grandchildren Josh (Kelly); Brooke, Molly (Colton), and Carter; Katherine (Eddie) and Claire (Austin) with great-grandchildren Hudson and Eliana; Hallie, Brynn and Charley; Emilia and Ren.
A burial service to honor Betty’s life will be held on May 4, 2026 at 11:00 am at Aubry Cemetery, 7101 West 191st Street, Stilwell, KS 66085. A luncheon will follow at Stilwell Baptist Church.
