After graduating from the Convent of the Sacred Heart, St. Joseph, Mo., and Fontbonne College, St. Louis, she earned a master’s degree in Education at the University of Kansas. For 29 years she taught English at Center High School in Kansas City.
In 1973, she married Peter Kowalczyk and had a son, Peter, in 1981. She outlived both, as well as sisters Mary Brott, Virginia Girard, and Rose Marie Wilde and brothers James T. Halter and Father Robert Halter, O.S.B. Reading, writing, speaking/singing in French, traveling, socializing with family and neighbors, and having dogs gave her joy. Survivors are sisters Margaret Gach and Helen Grable of St. Joseph and sister-in-law Rita Levens of Westwood, Kan. “Aunt Bev” will be missed.
Visitation will be at 9:00 am on Monday, April 14th at Cure' of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
