Charlotte H. Hardee Bethea

Charlotte H. Bethea, 74, formerly of Charlotte, NC and Bennettsville, SC, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2009, in Overland Park, KS, after a courageous battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 14301 S. Blackbob Road, Olathe, KS. On January 10, 2010, memorial services will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, SC, at 1:00 P.M. Inurnment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aiden’s Episcopal Church, 143rd and Blackbob, Olathe, KS, 66062; to the American Cancer Society , online memorial.Charlotte was a graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, NC. Her family was active in Caldwell Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC. She was later a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, SC; of Pine Grove Methodist Church in McColl, SC; of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, SC. Charlotte was an avid knitter and generously gave many shawls, scarves and blankets to friends, neighbors, and hospitals.Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents: William E. and BeBe (Stancill) Hardee; and by a granddaughter, Ansley Jean Bethea. She is survived by two daughters: Dr. Cynthia Louise Bethea of Portland, OR, and Diane Bethea (Bruce) Boeger of Overland Park, KS; a son: David Jesse (Carolyn) Bethea of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren: Sarah Wereky, Rachel (Dave) Leung, Rebecca, Hannah and Gabriella Boeger, and Tristram Bethea.Arrangements are by: McGilley & Hoge Chapel, Overland Park, KS, 913-642-3565, and by Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, Charlotte, NC, 704-332-7133.
