Was just  recalling our time stationed together in 1974. Had some fun times. Miss you mate.

Babe I miss you so much.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of something I need to tell you, or want to know what your thoughts are on some subject.  When I see older couples out to dinner or traveling together, it hurts that we aren't able to grow old together.  Love you always.

I was very saddened to hear od David's death. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Dave and I were stationed together in Oklahoma City, back in the 70's. Fair winds and following seas my friend.

I was shocked to see Dave's name listed under Taps in the CG Retiree newsletter today. Rest in peace Shipmate! We served together on USCGC HAMILTON, and I will always remember his sense of humor.

Becky, I am so sorry to learn of David's passing.  Please accept my prayers for your peace and comfort of memories as you deal with such a great loss.

Becky, M.L. called me with the news about David's passing. The first time I met him, M.L. was in town to buy one of her beloved Jeeps. He and I shared the common ground of my brother also serving many years in the Coast Guard. We had quite a fun and interesting conversation. The last time I saw him, M.L. was again in town, and all of us met for dinner at George Brett's restaurant. He graciously made a trip to the car, in the rain, to bring me a crazy gift that M.L. had brought me. I am so sorry for your loss. He is gone too soon. May many happy memories bring you comfort and peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless.

Becky- I am sorry David was not able to recover. You are in my thoughts and prayers for strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Respect from David Waitkoss wasn't an easy thing to earn but once you did, it was without limit or expectation. David cared with a rare heart so full of true kindness, forgiveness, encouragement and strength.  

When I first met Dave he struck me as a man of few words, as I grew to know him better I learned he was indeed a man of few words - but he carried a powerful message.  I quickly learned the profound wit behind each clever word selection.  I can honestly say that I have cried in laughter with Dave due to his humor and in sadness as I experienced a great loss in his presence.  No matter which scenario I find my mind reflecting with the news of his loss, I can say that getting to know Dave taught me the importance of building a genuine character.  

If you earned David's respect through hard work and an honest, hearty temperament you were able to say that he brought a unique light to life.  If you knew David well enough to understand the great loss we are experiencing, take solace in the fact that you were carefully selected to share this life with a genuine soul  a rare gift indeed.

I knew Dave since 2000, working together at Birch Telecom and then at Sprint. In the ever changing world, Dave was the one true constant. 
Never was a there a person more true or loyal to his friends.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Waitkoss.  Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.

We are deeply saddened by Dave's passing.  A loving & caring man, a spirited conversationalist, a true friend with a big heart.  My trips home to visit family in KC always included Dave.
He is and will be missed.

Deepest sympathy, Mrs. Waitkoss and Family!  I will very much miss Mr. Waitkoss.  May God bless his soul and bless you with healing from your loss. I will never forget him.

I worked with Dave at Sprint.  He was a wonder person.  Always made me smile.  He was a great help to me during a rough patch in my life.  I appreciate and miss him greatly.

Dave was more than just a neighbor, I considered him a dear friend as did my kids.

Dave has been a true and beloved friend since high school.  Rest in Peace, my dearest friend.

David was a shipmate of mine in the early 1970's aboard USCGC SEBAGO (WHEC-42). I recall him as an eager, willing, young man excited about his future in the Coast Guard.  His shipmates mourn his passing.
