With heavy hearts and a love that words can never fully express, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Edie Lorenz. She was a beautiful soul whose love touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Edie was born in Rich Hill, Missouri and lived most of her life in Overland Park, Kansas. She met the love of her life, James A. Lorenz while working in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. They married on June 26, 1954, and were together until his death on July 18, 2008. Together Edie and Jim raised five children; Mary Ann, Frank, Julie, Mike and Phillip.
Edie was in banking for most of her life and retired from First National Bank of Omaha in Overland Park, Kansas. After the passing of her husband, Edie decided to move to Florida to be closer to family.
Edie is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mary Louise Lunceford, her husband, Jim Lorenz, and son Phillip James Lorenz. Edie is survived by her children, Mary Ann Gould, (Anthony), Frank Lorenz, (Terri), Julie Fink, (Alan), and Michael Lorenz, (Lesli). She was Grandma to eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren whom she loved immensely; along with many wonderful nieces, nephews and good friends in Kansas and Florida.
Edie will be remembered for being just so fun to be around, and anytime anyone wanted to go shopping she was "all in." She was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord and Our Lady and fervently prayed a daily rosary. With the certainty of our faith her family knows that she will be in heaven surrounded by all of her loved ones. Rest peacefully, Edie “Darling.” You were loved beyond words, will be missed beyond measure, and will never be forgotten.
