Frederick William Wiedenmann, 90, of Ozawkie, KS, died on Monday, February 15th at the Health Care Resort of Olathe following a long battle with lung disease. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lois Wiedenmann, with whom he was married for 65 years. Born in Kansas City, KS, he was the son of the late Frederick J. and Minnie Wiedenmann, and brother of the late Mary C. Wiedenmann.
Fred was a graduate of Shawnee Mission “North” High School in Mission, KS. Nearing the end of World War II, he was just completing his flight training when the war ended and he was discharged soon thereafter. He returned to the Kansas City area to follow in his father‘s footsteps to become a Journeyman electrician in IBEW Local #124, where he worked for 42 years until retirement in 1988. He was a 70-year member of the IBEW. A lover of fishing, hunting, golf and the outdoors, Fred and Mary moved to the Lake Perry area where they have lived for the past 20 years.
His other survivors include sons, Bill Wiedenmann (wife - Vickie) and Chris Wiedenmann (wife - Kiz); daughter, Anne Meadows (husband - Carl); grandsons Fred Wiedenmann, Robert Wiedenmann and Benjamin Wiedenmann, and step grandchildren, Bill Goodfriend (wife – Kristin), Brent Meadows (wife-Stephanie), and Michelle Wilson.
On Saturday, February 20, at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, in Overland Park, KS, a visitation will be held at 9:00am preceding the funeral at 10:00am. He will be buried at the Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the American Lung Association.
